🇬🇧 Ritual: 13 wishes on 12 magical nights
deardiary,
For the first time, I am participating in this ritual. “Thirteen wishes” is actually quite simple. Between Christmas and Epiphany, the barrier between heaven and earth is nearly there. The twelve nights between these holidays are referred to as the twelve magical nights, twelve holy nights, or Rauhnächte in German.
Future Femke here: I made a FREE workbook for the 13 wishes-ritual! You’ll find it here.
I saw this first on TikTok, a video of @vanessaandheriphone. The ritual of “13 wishes”, where on Christmas Eve (or during the winter solstice) you make a list of 13 wishes for the new year. It goes like this:
Write down 13 wishes for the new year on separate pieces of paper and keep a copy of the list in a notebook.
Fold all 13 pieces of paper and put them in a jar. Fold them towards you for an extra boost of magic.
The next day, take one piece of paper and burn it, giving the wish to the universe to fulfil. You are not allowed to peek at the wish, so leave the piece of paper folded.
After 12 days and 12 notes burned, one wish remains. You are responsible for fulfilling this wish yourself. Every wish you make must be something you can fulfil yourself, so be careful what you wish for 😉
In December of the new year, you can take out your list again to see which wishes have come true ✨
Want to add even more magic? You can! Every day after burning a wish, I draw a tarot card. The first card is guidance for January, the second for February, and so on. I also write these down in my notebook, first the name of the card and then the guidance I receive through it.
What if you are unable to safely burn the note? No worries, you can put it through the shredder or simply toss it in the bin. Just make sure you don't peek.
Anyway, I'm curious to see which wish I'll be responsible for. I can let go of the rest and let my intuition and inspired action guide me throughout the year ✨
